危ない と🪰ない

I was texting and wrote 危ない (あぶない) and noticed one of my options was 🪰ない.

危ない is an adjective that translates as Dangerous. Parents scream, "危ない" at their children when they seem to be doing something that could cause them or someone else injury.

Using a fly as a substitute for the Kanji 危 is something I have never seen before. It might be something new, or something that always been around that I never realized because no one I know has ever used it before. Although, the fly emoji is a newer emoji in the set. And a weird one to add, in my opinion.

Why a fly? Are they dangerous? Dirty, of course. Annoying, sure. In Japan, caterpillars are the most dangerous bug. Most of them are poisonous and children are taught to stay away from them.

So it would make more sense to write 🐛ない, でしょうかな？

The 🪰 emoji also looks a lot like a セミ or cicada. セミ are a persistent presence during the humid summer months. Any fan of Japanese anime has heard the sound of セミ buzzing in the background. The sound has Pavlov dog effect on anyone who has experienced summer in Japan. As soon as you hear it. sweat begins to pool in various spots around your body.

But are they dangerous? In America, we are expecting a swarm of a special kind female cicada that emerges from the ground every 17 years in droves to mate. Again though, 汚いと、めんどくさいも、でも危ないと思うません。

What do you think? Are flies and cicadas dangerous and worthy of replacing the Kanji 危 with 🪰?

スケートボード等禁止

On the way to Osaka Castle park, we passed this sign in front of the NHK and Osaka Museum of History buildings. In the front is a big open lot where people can gather and eat lunch or take pictures. But, it's also a a great place to skateboard with many obstacles and rails to grind, so they have to put up this sign to keep people from using it as a skate park.

スケートボード- Skateboard
等（など）- and the like/etcetera; Scooters, BMX bikes  
禁止（きんし）- Prohibited 

Translation: Skateboards and the like are prohibited.

園（えん）- Garden 
内（ない）- Entrance/Inside 
で - Location Particle
スケートボード等 - Skateboards, etc.
を- Linking Particle; Links the noun to the verb
する- Do
行為（こうい）- Act/Action

スケートボード等をする行為 - Doing Skateboard actions i.e. tricks and stunts
は - Subject Particle 
大阪市（おおさかし）- Osaka City
公園（こうえん）- Park
条例（じょうれい）- Regulation/Rule/Article 
第３条９号（だいさんじょうきゅうごう）- Article Three Section Nine
により - According to, Because of
禁止
行為
となります-  to become

Translation: Skateboarding in the garden entrance has become a prohibited action according to Article 3 Section 9 of the Osaka Park Regulations.

大阪市
東部（とうぶ）- East
方面（ほうめん）- Area
公園
事務所（じむしょ）- Office

Translation: Osaka City East Area Park Office

Although, this sign cites the rules for not doing trick riding in the park, they never give the consequences to breaking the rules. Will I get arrested or just a fine? I don't know, and I'm not going to find out because I don't skateboard. But if you do! Let us know. それに、気をつけてください。
